IBNROCKI - aka Rocki

(2000-____)

Half Arabian + Paint Horse

Rocki was born in an effort to get a colorful horse.  She was the daughter of a gray Arabian sired by a champion Paint Horse.  She was born a chestnut and they were disappointed with that so she was offered cheap.  I brought her here and she is a beautiful Half Arabian and you couldn't ask for a sweeter girl.  She is a little stubborn when trained but when she decides to do as you ask,  she remembers it well.  She is the resident pet and does things her own way but she stays in line and never gets into trouble.

1/21/2004 - Rocki is getting accustomed to the saddle and, for such a calm little pet, she can sure throw a fit at times. I think she will be my most challenging test.

7/20/2004 - Rocki was to be bred this year but the selected stallion got sick and passed away. There is plenty time and I think she will have great looking foals.

5/15/2005 - Rocki is such a sweet horse.  She never has trouble with the others and is a friend to any familiar person.  She lays back yet when strangers are present.  Still not bred but maybe next year everything can come together.  If we are fortunate, maybe a spotted foal.

8/30/2005 - Rocki is still the most careful horse in the pasture.  She seldom has even little scratches.  She just stays out of the way and never upsets anyone.

11/25/2006 - Rocki is six now and is maturing into perfect conformation.  She likes to run and does so often, even when the others won't run with her.  She likes to pick on Gabby and he leaves her pretty much alone.  He knows who is boss.

8/18/2007 - Rocki went to the doctor today to get her teeth worked on (floated).  She loads real easy and stands there waiting to go.  She only accepts the trailer so long and begins to get worked up.  She broke her halter and tried to wreck the trailer.  We made it back OK and except for her being mad and a couple of minor halter burns, everything is fine.  She just don't understand that she will be OK after the trip.

Rocki 2008 12/28/2007 - Rocki got sick and would not eat.  She was in colic and had to go to the doctor.  He treated her with a dose of olive oil and she was already on medication.  It took 24 hours for her to start clearing the olive oil and it was 2 more days before she would eat.  It was a close call and her diet is now being changed.

3/20/2008 - She lost some weight during her colic episode and is slowly putting it back on.  She still looks thin but is healthy and eating good.  She's on the road to recovery and she runs and plays just as she always did.

6/18/2008 - Rocki has regained most of her weight and looks really good.  Her new diet is working really well.  She looks good and has energy to spare.  She can almost beat Gabby to the gate when I show up at it.  She has started some training and is liking it for now.  She has never liked being told what to do but maturity helps with that.  She lost here winter coat better than ever and maybe her new diet helped with that.  I won't have to clip her this year for the first time.
