Shastaaisha - aka Shasta

(1999-____)

Paint Quarter Horse

Shasta was in a neighbor's pasture beside my house for about a year.  She had been left there by someone who couldn't afford to keep her.  We became friends over the fence and she didn't seem to have a job so I brought her home.  She now has a name and a home and friends.  She is a joy to be around she likes people.  She has taken kids who visit for rides and she seems to know they are children.  She is very quite when they are around her.  She is big and she's the boss in the barnyard though she never needs to show it.  They all get out of the way and all she needs to do is look at them.  She's fun to groom with all her chrome and she stays fairly clean.  What a girl.

Shasta Shasta Arrived 2/2003

1/21/2004 - Shasta just stays the same, real laid back and takes everything in stride. What a pleasure it is training her for she wants to do everything you ask.

7/20/2004 - What a special horse. She is over 17 hands tall and is such a great friend. She will follow me any place and do anything I ask of her

8/15/2005 - Shasta is having fun now.  Sometimes on weekends kids come out from town to ride her.  She is real gentle with them.  It seems she knows they are special.

10/30/2005 - Shasta never has a mark on her from the others but she never shows aggression to them.  She was not so nice when a neighbor brought her horse over to use my training pen.  She bit the ladies friend and tried to attack her horse.  She was stubborn about it.

Shasta

11/25/2006 - Shasta is still the boss and no one bothers her except Gabby.  Occasionally he will get close and acts as though he intends to nip her but then runs quickly away.  He's a little adventurous but not real brave about it.  She is seven now and looks really good except she rubbed part of her tail thin scratching her back side.  Now she has all winter to grow it back.

1/8/2008 - She will be eight this spring and just gets better looking all the time.  She is eating alfalfa now and no grain.  She looks really good and I think she is maintaining her weight.  She runs more often than before so her energy is up some.  And when she runs she looks light on her feet despite being almost 1,100 pounds.

Shasta

1/10/2008 - All furred up for winter she still looks good.

6/4/2008 - Shasta is such a big, lovable, do anything you ask horse.  She likes to be with me and I like that and she will follow me anywhere.  She loves children especially and likes for them to come see her.

She's just my big baby.

Shasta

What a good looking friend!
